DANDELION BALM - Moisturing natural goodness

If you haven't tried our Dandelion Balm, then your skin is missing out on something special! We harvest dandelions from a secret spot in Mangawhai Heads, Northland and carefully dry them. Then we gently and slowly infuse sunflower oil with our harvested, dried dandelions on our coal range. The infused sunflower oil is then left in the dark for a few weeks to mature before we use local beeswax to set it into a balm. It's quite the process but worth every moment to produce an effective, gentle barrier balm for your skin. It does not contain any essential oils which makes it ideal for broken or damaged skin. You can use it for nappy rash, dribble rash, cracked heels, chapped lips, burns, bites, blisters, dermatitis, eczema or dry skin. It also makes a fabulous massage oil. Being big fans of dandelions and their anti-fungal, anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties but did you know that sunflower oil has some special qualities also? Sunflower oil contains several beneficial compounds for your skin, such as oleic acid, vitamin E, sesamol and linoleic acid. Sunflower oil is a non-comedogenic carrier oil which won't clog pores and is highly absorbent. It’s non-irritating for most people, and can be used on all types of skin, including dry, normal, oily, and acne-prone. Sunflower oil contains vitamin E which is an antioxidant that can help protect skin from free radicals and from adverse effects of the sun, such as premature aging and wrinkles. Linoleic acid helps to maintain the skin’s natural barrier, supporting its ability to retain moisture. Linoleic acid is very effective for protecting skin against bacteria and germs. It also has an anti-inflammatory effect when used topically. This makes it beneficial for dry skin and for conditions, such as eczema. Studies have shown that topical use of sunflower oil was beneficial for healing wounds faster. Pop one in your child's school bag, keep one on your desk, in your glove box, on your counter. Frequent use gets best results.
